Camilo
Echevarría’s career has been full of
challenges. From the
beginning he bet all in Europe, but the lack of budget, at the end
brought him
to the Argentinean car series. Now, when
he had everything arrange to drive the champion car of TR Junior
and
drive for a top team for Formula Renault, the Neuquen born driver,
change his
path dramatically and jump to the TC Pista, also for the Diego
Aventin’s Team.
The news is very shocking. Fast
as behind the wheel, Camilo didn’t hesitate to
take this offer, get the license –he had more than enough background-
and he
will one of the young drivers pursuing the aim to jump to the legendary
TC.
As
requirement to race in the Argentinean maximum category, the drivers
need to do
a season in the TC Pista. Camilo has been able to skip the Mouras’
division
base in his background. The TC is in his future and he decided to speed
things
up.
Aventin got to know him sharing the tracks in Top Race, where the driver
from
Neuquen was the rookie of the year in the junior division, wining two
races,
with several podiums and finishing third in the championship, in his
debut
year. The references from the well known preparer Cristian Ávila,
according to
whom, Camilo has a huge future. “Pumita” Aventin first tempted him by
the
middle of last year and he doubled his bid last December.
Everything
was so fast that, in one trip to Buenos Aires, the driver obtained his
license
for TC Pista and tested his seat for the Chevrolet, driven by Matías
Rodriguez
last year. Matias used this car to challenge for the Silver Cup. Camilo
will test
the car during the first days of February, to start the championship on
February,
21st.
“Diego (Aventin) let me chose between a new Ford and the Rodriguez’
Chevrolet,
which is fully developed. That’s why I choose it, because I have no
experience with
this type of cars”, told Camilo, very enthusiastic. Aventin, who will
have the
successful Walter Alifraco as developer for the car, say “I really like
Camilo
as driver. He is fast, a fighter, he dares in each movement. He has a
long
career ahead and our team expects to give him a very competitive car.
Of course, he has to pay his dues. Anyway, he will make it to the Silver
Cup”.
- Camilo, are you
changing 2 series to one?
Yes, by now.
Anyway, we are still working to be in the TR junior. The priority is for
TC Pista,
which is expensive enough.
- Did you like the
car?
Is nothing
special, but is well constructed, as Rodriguez shown, going for the
championship.
This is the most important challenge in my career, if I do well I can
get to
the TC quickly. Anyway, I don’t want to speed things up. I hope I can do
some
experience and to be among the top 10 on April 18th in
Centenario.
This is the first big challenge”, Camilo concluded.
